It's amazing to me how willing children are to serve and help others. Today, I was running around the house and a few stores like a chicken without a head in an attempt to get things together before we leave town. Throughout the day Ally would come jumping up to me in excitement and ask, "Mom! What can I do to help you?" I thought about her enthusiasm and I really don't think that I have that same kind of genuine interest in helping people all the time. Children are such a good example of serving. In Alma 30:9 it states, "...if he believed in God it was his privilege to serve him..." When we serve one another we are serving God.
The Savior instructs us to become as a little child. It is our blessing to have the example of six little children around us everyday. These are the things we are learning from them.

Friendship
After school today Viana told me this story: "At recess I saw a stranger who was sad. I asked her why she was sad and she told me no one wanted to play "mom" with her, so I said I would play with her." I asked Viana what the girls name was. She told me she forgot to ask her. Then I asked her if she was in her class. She said, "No, it was just a stranger." For the rest of the day she kept telling me how she had chosen to play with this little girl when no one else would.
"When saw we thee a stranger, and took them in...Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matt 25:38, 40

Service
This morning Viana came into my room to wake me up with this news, "Momma, I cleaned the sink in my bathroom so that daddy wouldn't have to and I picked the best toothbrush to use to scrub it and the best washcloth from the bath. Won't Daddy be happy that he won't have to clean it up?"
I want to wake up every morning with thoughts of how to improve Eric's day...even if I have to sacrifice my own toothbrush for it!
